It’s a wonderful Murakami morning. Mmmm…
I am not sure how I ended up doing it, but this morning at work, I came acrross a pdf version of Haruki Murakami’s short story “Toni Takitani“. I have been looking for it since a fellow Soulseek-er mentioned it to me upon seeing my handle (sputniksweet). If you do not know Haruki Murakami, I forgive you and compel you to Google him now then buy one of his books immediately after.
And so for about a quiet half an hour, with a cup of warm milk tea in my hand, I was transported to pre-and post- second World War Tokyo and Shanghai while sitting on my office nook. It was a mini pleasant moment – like reading the morning paper on an open patio with a cup of coffee and the warm sunshine around me.
I only realized today that having to be in the office at seven in the morning can actually be nice. And it’s these kinds of happy little moments that make me grateful that I am a living, breathing and reading human being.
